The protagonist of the base game (Miles Upshur) became the new host for the Walrider. After killing Billy, the Walrider attached to the nearest suitable host, which (thanks to all the trials Father Martin led him through) ended up being our protagonist. There was a video screening towards the end of the game that featured a specific set of images that trigger the Morphogenic Engine in Miles, followed by an explanation that those who witness such horrors become suitable hosts.Miles has been prepared throughout the whole game to take the role of the Walrider's next host. So, at the end of the main game, after presumably getting shot, we hear the panicked guards and Dr. Wernicke stating that 'he has become the new host.' At this point, it was unclear whether Miles survived or not, but it was certain that he was keeping the Walrider alive. The end of the DLC takes places after the end of the main game, and we see that Miles did indeed survive, in some sense.
He's revealed as a shadowy figure in front of the main gates, in full control of the Walrider now. Presumably, it was this that allowed him to stay alive. And then we have Waylon Park tearing away from the Asylum in Miles' truck, fueled by pure terror.
The end.:PWhat happened to the asylum isn't really shown, but Waylon DID end up getting away with a lot of evidence, which we see him uploading for some government character. But we also know that there were other facilities working on this, so it's hard to say what became of the whole operation.

The antagonists are just all dead. I didnt read a lot of documents in-game so the whole storyline isnt 100% clear to me. Bobby carrot 4 game. Like i just found out recently that the walrider isnt really a ghost/wrath/demon but an entity created by scienceHow do you know that miles was getting ready for the experiment the whole time:P? How the ♥♥♥♥ did father martin knew about all that?i didnt know that the shadowy figure was miles O.o? He doesnt look anything like miles upshur so how does everyone know?' Specific set of images that trigger the Morphogenic Engine in Miles' ive never seen that:O.
Originally posted by:' specific set of images that trigger the Morphogenic Engine in Miles' ive never seen that:O It's been a loooooonng time since I've played, and even longer since I've really focused on the story, but it was the room that was essentially a movie theater, and you just hear a voiceover of Dr. Wernicke talking with what looks like rorschach images on the screen. You also see the same images in the room Billy's in, with the massive machine. Each pod is in front of a screen displaying these same images. As far as Father Martin knowing, he goes on about how you have a purpose here, and at his death scene, I think he makes some remark of how this is the final step or something.
It is a good question how he knows about this prepping method, though. I feel like it must be explained somewhere. Originally posted by:pretty cool storyline. I just wish it wasnt a typical indie game storyline, where they didnt bother to ♥♥♥♥ing explain anything and they leave everything up to you. I hate that coz its bullshuit What? They did explain everything.

It was more situational and less narrative, so it wasn't as obviously direct as, say, Bastion (An indie game with precise storytelling), but there's definitely a rigid story. It's pretty reminiscent of Bioshock, actually- Straight-forward story, with plenty of more expositional pieces hidden around the world. Or do you think he wasn't in control of his thoughts anymore. I ask this because of the fact that he is seen exiting the building presumably chasing after Waylon. Originally posted by:The protagonist of the base game (Miles Upshur) became the new host for the Walrider.

I ask this because of the fact that he is seen exiting the building presumably chasing after Waylon.Miles helped waylon escape, this is portrayed by the walrider physically picking the jeep up and turning it around in the final scene, allowing him to tell the world what happened there.
