Gehenna White Wolf Pdf
I was around on the old New Bremen chat (shut up, I loved it) when Gehenna went down. As a casual player, it was super cool seeing alerts go out that characters my character had met were on TV fighting the Tzimisce antediluvian. For me the coolest part about Gehenna wasn't just the vamps and how they all played the last cards in their hands, it was how the world responded to it. All very realistic, the way at first Kindred were treated as celebrities, and apologists were protesting their mistreatment, talk shows and groupies, and every Neonate wanting to bust the Masquerade open right in their elder's faces. Then word got out about the Sabbat and the shit the elders had been up do for decades. Public opinion flipped, suddenly vampires were shit people needed to be protected from. Politicians with 'blood ties' to the elder vamps were outed, task forces rounded up the blood suckers, and literal witch hunts went down. Internment camps, religious zealotry, descent back to the dark ages of fear, the Vatican and the Society of Leopold having their day. Then it got worse, because the really nasty vampires started showing up. Methuselah and Antediluvians started tossing their weight around, and there is only so much you can do to a 4 millennia old ugly fucker with a host of ghouled sea monsters.
But even during the big scary monster stuff, it was fun hearing about Washington DC became a Tzimisce flesh-farm, or gangs in Miami were banding together and pooling their firepower to stand against the Sabbat. The little bits of reality mixed into the apocalyptic fantasy were so much cooler than 'OH LOOK! SALOUT IS BACK!' I kinda did my own Gehenna. In which when the Ravnos Antediluvian rose, before he got Spirit-Nuked/Satellite Rained - he kicked off his Chimerstry 10 and made the entire world forget that Caine ever existed. That was how I kicked off the NWoD - and the group Seven, consisted of powerful elders that remembered the truth. So for me Gehenna was a 'subverted' or was the actual catastrophic end of the world.
Just not how they imagined. It allowed me to pull apart the WoD and use the new rules as I see fit, sprinkling it with whatever CWoD (actually a LOT of it) bits I saw fit. Worked great, because I didn't tell my Players, I merely said that was the end of the game.
Then I let someone else GM for a bit, before I kicked off a Hunter: The Vigil game. Where they slowly uncovered the secret. One ironic thing was the discovery of a warded safehouse from one of their old PC's it was untouched. The players were freaking out when they realized what had happened. It was pretty awesome.
A friend of mine pulled off a variant of Gehenna: In this version, dhampires who drank vampire blood gained powers as if they were embraced by that vampire, but remained alive, able to run around in the day, etc. They had found a torpored Antidiluvian, staked him, and set him up as a blood factory, then quietly started attacking cities world-wide. The media didn't get tipped off, but the Antidiluvians started waking up, and trying to figure out who was taking away all their pawns.
It was really tense, and ended up with us making deals to more or less keep the status quo, and assaulting the last Tremere chantry with Ferox and a shitton of Gargoyles with Valeran, because Tremere was being a fucking dick. I've only ever played the world meta plot version for the live action game.It was interestingMy Giovanni basically died in a background action as I was recalled to the clans base in CapadociaMy Tremere died dueling to become the new sheriff after all the Malks went crazyMy Nos ( Sabbat) actually went good and went down fighting against some super vamp ( it was rumoured to be something else but I never found out)I didn't like the fact both sects joined forces. It was really really stupid. And no infighting happened it was just like the next game oh your all friends now. I'm currently running a game that deals with Gehenna and takes place after the Week of Nightmares.Basically, a secret faction of the Sabbat is allying itself with Lucifer. He's still pissed at God and the Angels, but he realizes that his fallen brethren have been corrupted by their time spent trapped in the abyss and turned into monstrous creatures bent on ravaging mortal souls and the destruction of creation.
In exchange for being Lucifer's army and helping him wipe out the Earthbound and the corrupted fallen, Lucifer is going to help this faction of the Sabbat destroy (or convert) the Camarilla, kill their methuselah elders, and destroy the antediluvians. If Caine rises, he'll help them deal with that too. Having Lucifer, or any other powerful demon for that matter, as an ally is necessary especially post Week of Nightmares because demons being naturally resistant to illusions and immune to mind control are one of the few supernatural inhabitants of the World of Darkness that can actually tell if the efforts to destroy the Ravnos antediluvian were actually successful.Lucifer sees this as a win/win deal because fewer evil demons and fewer vampires means less suffering for humanity (which he still loves and wants to protect).

Finally, once the only remaining contingent of vampires are all of one unified faction, he plans to give them their own world separate from that of humanity and remove their curses so that they can live without feeding on humans, walk in the sunlight, and reproduce on their own. After he solves the vampire and demon problems, it's a simple matter to get humanity back on the right track by resuming his Grand Experiment (which nearly succeeded the first time) to guide humanity now that God and the Angels are MIA.
By, £14.99 Book /The end of he world as we know itSo, after 10 years of releases White Wolf are closing shop on the World of Darkness. The time of judgment is here to sweep away (deservedly in some cases) the accumulated detritus of a decade’s metaplot. Soon there’ll be a new version, with a new continuityGehenna is the end of the world as seen by the protagonists of Vampire: The Masquerade. Well, more precisely it’s four different endings and some advice on how to go about making it really good for your players. Some spoilers may follow, so if you plan to play, you might want to read something else.First off, it’s a nice book. Hardback and with a cover that evokes the events presented within.

Illustrations inside are also excellent. It looks like they went to town with the last book of the line. The early parts of the book are general advice on Gehenna and how to use and abuse it. There’s also a general who’s doing what and to whom, and which antediluvians are involved. It also introduces the concepts that will spill through all the scenarios, including the Withering, the failure of the curse of Caine, a nice plot device for making seemingly insurmountable enemies weaker. There are also some letters between various metaplot characters that add some nice colour. The first scenario is called Wormwood, and of all those presented is probably the truest to the original premise to Vampire.
It’s a story about humanity and what it means, and striving for some sort of redemption. The scenario will involve a lot of talking, a heavy amount of angst, and maybe a bit of salvation. The character’s are drawn to a church and while the rest of vampire kind is expunged by the rays of the red star, they get to prove their worthiness and humanity. Great stuff, but not for everybody.Scenario number two is a bit of a mix. It involves Caine and Lilith.
Lilith turns up on your PCs turf and tries to draw out Caine in order to punish him for his sins. The scenario is quite abstract, and is vague as to its purpose in places. To my mind it would be harder work to get players interested in it. Part of this stems from the way the scenes are described. The scene where characters fight off Liliths minions at the docks is a good example, there’s not the motivation there should be. Still, if you like the Lilith mythology this scenario is brimming with it.The third scenario is the Metaplot one.
It’s full of signature characters and railroading. If you enjoyed Transylvania Chronicles then it would make the ideal climax to that series.
It’s a good story, but how much your players could actually affect events is limited as written. If you just want to go along for the ride, then it’s an entertaining romp, and involves the masquerade being torn asunder, the PCs hunting for clues to various antediluvians and ending up at the city of Gehenna in a confrontation with the awakened ancients.Scenario four is called the Crucible of God, and features a Gehenna where the antediluvians war on each other.

Again the masquerade is torn asunder (by your player’s characters, nice) and what follows is a series of abstract scenarios dealing with humanities reaction, the war that ensues and the way in which the different antediluvians approach it. There are also a few set pieces thrown in. There’s a lot more opportunity for PC influence over events here too, rather than just witness them.Chapter 6 is about storytelling and is full of sensible advice (like making sure your PCs are center stage).
In fact it’s better than much of the storytelling advice in other Vampire books, and really tries to hammer home the themes of the game and how they should be approached at the end. It’s followed by a couple of appendices, one on characters who appear in the scenarios and one on how to use (or not) Caine.Overall: What’s nice about this book is that it has something for everybody. If you like your Vampire to be moody and angst filled, or rowdy and katana wielding, if you like metaplot or loathe it, there’s something for everybody here. Obviously, this broad scope also means that there’ll likely be something in here that you don’t like too. But the ideas here are well worth looking at for anybody who wants to end their vampire game with a bang. Author Posted on Categories Tags, Search for: Search Purchase.Categories.
